An Open Letter to My Students From Colegio San José Moreno Nieto
One last letter to my students as their teacher:
I hope you have read my first letter. I do not want to leave anything unsaid.
I knew I was going to write this letter a long time ago. I have stared at my laptop countless times. There is so much I want to tell you, yet I cannot find the words. Tomorrow is my last day as Colegio San José Moreno Nieto’s English Assistant in Secondary. I need to hurry up now, for time is a luxury I do not have.
As we approach the end of this school year, I reflect on the journey we have embarked on together. I never had the best sense of time, so having something so significant and constant in my life end abruptly feels strange. I am not prepared to say goodbye, but I will do my best to say what I need to.
To be your English Assistant is an honor. Throughout this year, you have taught me more than you can imagine. Each one of you has left an indelible mark on my life. Witnessing your growth and seeing your potential has been an incredible experience. You inspire me to trust my gut to work toward being the teacher I want to be and the teacher I needed when I was your age.
Although our time together in the classroom may be coming to a close, know that you will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am grateful for the moments we shared, the lessons we learned, and the memories we created. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey and enriching my life in more ways than I can express.
I want you to know that I am proud of you, but more importantly, I hope you are proud of yourself.
Please stay in touch, as I would love to hear about your future endeavors and celebrate your successes. All my students will receive the same letter because you are so many but know I meant every word. If you want to write to me, I will write back. If you want to see me, I am not hard to find. Wherever life takes us, I will always be here to offer guidance, support, and encouragement.
I wish you all the happiness, success, and fulfillment that life has to offer. Take care of yourself, and never stop pursuing your dreams.
Until we meet again,
Julián
